How the treatment works:
Tepezza works by blocking the activity of the IGF-1 receptor and thereby slowing, or stopping an abnormal immune response that is causing further damage to the region of your eye. This helps the Eye look, Vision and comfort.
Administration:
Tepezza 500 mg solution for infusion is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion in a hospital. Standard treatment consists of 8 doses of 500 mg, repeated every 21 days during a total period of 6 months. A Tepezza infusion takes approximately 60-90 minutes to complete.
Possible Side Effects:
Most common side effects are muscle spasms, nausea, diarrhea, tiredness,numbness in your ears and hyper blood sugar levels. Certain patients can develop infusion reactions, possibly presenting with signs like skin reddishness or breath shortage. Such uncommon but serious side effect should be reported to your doctor promptly.
Precautions:
Patients are also recommended to tell their healthcare provider if they have pre-existing health conditions – particularly diabetes and hearing problems — and any medications or supplements that they are using, before starting Tepezza. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should weigh those risks since the drug can impact fetal growth.
