Description
Uses:
- Minimizing the risk of catching the infection in cancer chemotherapy patients.
- Raising of the white cells both through the bone marrow and stem cell transplantations
- Management of severe chronic neutropenia (such a condition is characterized by a low number of neutrophils).
- Helping when there has been an excessive dose of radiation.
Administration:
Neupogen is injected under the skin or into a vein (usually once daily). The dosage and therapy are dependent on the condition of the patient and his/her medical response.
Side Effects:
Some of the most prevalent side effects are pains in the bones, muscle pains, mild headaches, and light skin reactions at the needle site. Severe effects can rarely occur and can include enlargement/rupture of the spleen, lung issues, or other serious allergic reactions.
Precautions:
Other medical complications, like sickle cell disease, as well as the use of any other medication before using Neupogen, need to be reported to the doctor concerned before taking the medicine.
